Actress Mercy Johnson Says Thank YOU
2013 has been an incredible year for me. I couldn’t ask for more. It is one year I won’t forget in a hurry.
My fans were amazing. They stood by me and took on my fight. The critics played their parts too. I took the constructive ones, made adjustment and became a better person.
How can I forget 2013, the year I had the honour of being the most searched Nollywood actress for the third consecutive year. I am most grateful to the fans who worked the keyboard or keypad reading about me online.
I am grateful to my team, the media and management company, Bigsam Media that became like sponge, wiping away the negative past and soaking in the future. I am most grateful.
Social media, Twitter most especially, played significant role in reaching out directly. The teaming fans on Twitter and other platforms, this is for you; thank you for loving, tolerating and being there for me.
Gentlemen of the press contributed in no small measure to my year, without you, no one will reckon with the brand, thank you.
My colleagues, directors, producers and marketers who made the job easier for me, I am most grateful. Without what you do on set, my best won’t manifest. Thanks.
To the companies all over Africa that did business with me, I owe you. Thanks for the confidence in my brand. 2014 will be better.
To those who buy or watch movies because of me, you have kept me at the top still in 2013. You are part of my success story. I am most grateful. God bless you.
And to the most wonderful man in the world, Prince Odi Okojie, if there were to be reincarnation, I will take the step of faith with you again. Odi, you are a good man, wonderful husband and loving daddy. I am blessed to be your wife and blessed will you continue to be among men.
In 2014, there will be new direction for the brand, keep your fingers crossed while God and my team work out the magic.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Kwaw Kese punches government over Guinea Fowl project in new single
Kwaw Kese hit hard at the funds spent on the ‘GYEEDA Guinea Fowl’ project by saying, “memp3 nkwasia3m. 15 million wo Akonf3m, Sika no y3 di no nt3m, Ghanaman no ho aba as3m.”
The literal translation is: “I don’t want any foolishness. 15 million for guinea fowls, we spend money anyhow, and the Ghanaian is in trouble.”
With hard punch lines from Kwaw, a classic hook from Obrafour and an awesome instrumentation from Ball J, the song is set to rule Ghanaian airwaves for months to come.

It is really humbling to be nominated for the Fashion Fusion award. Winning would be confirmation that we are pleasing our clients in the UK and the diaspora and it is something I am very excited about.
What do you think about the GUBA Awards?

Exposure or exploitation?
I must admit, the first time I saw African prints used in a high fashion store on 5th Ave and the price tag of the top was something beyond 200 US Dollars, I was offended.
“How dare they using African cloth, calling it a new trend and selling the designs for horrendous prices?” Was the first thought that crossed my mind.
Somehow, it felt wrong that the Western fashion industry was showcasing something that had been around for a long time as new and trendy.
When I told a group of Black Fashionista bloggers about my idea to create a blog on ‘African Prints in Fashion’; they responded with the same notion of“oh my, another person jumping on the African Print band wagon.”
So there seems to be the feeling that the continent is being exploited for its resources once again.
Let’s take a look at the phenomena from another angle. The fashion industry is giving African prints a new platform by showcasing the prints and cloth in their designs.
Thus, by creating a “new” trend, designers from the Continent that have been using African prints and cloth to create innovative and fashion forward designs for several years, get more visibility and can possibly benefit from the new hype.
